Can I reopen a Child Support Case I closed?

My Daughter was 14 years old when I closed the support case I had opened on my former husband. I was told by the DA's office I could reopen and that my ex husband was not excused from his debt. My daughter is now 22. Can I still reopen case to collect back support owed between 14 & 18 years, in addition to back support never paid?
I informed the DA to close the case. I drafted a letter & had my ex sign it. No attorney was present & document was not signed by anyone but my ex and I. I still have all original support orders & amounts set by divorce court. What are my options in this situation?

Was you on any state aid during the time you asked it be closed? If so then he owes the state monies in the rear, but as for you asking for monies today to support the times of today in replace of those gone past? NO, you can't get monies in the rear, the purpose of child support is to assist in raising the child at those given times and dates. I f you waved the help then, its waved and gone. She is no longer under your care and custody, therefore you need no help at this time and date to raise her. Do you see were I'm coming from? Or have I totally confused you? I hope not, child support is paid during the days and times of raising the child. If you pass it up then for whatever reason, you pass it up for thew duration. And now you could use help and that back support would help right now, it can't be made to pay because it wouldn't be used to raise the child. I hope this helps? Good luck.

If you and your ex signed an agreement stating you wanted to drop the child support order, and it was not granted and stopped though the court, and the attorney general stated that you could reopen the case anytime that you wanted it would of had to be prior to your child turning 18, however you can collect the past child support erarages at anytime, you can update any information to the child support services on nformation on the father, you can also get a lwyer and put a lien on the fathers home if he has one and on any assest and 401K etc.
