Child support and who can claim the child as a dependant

If not written in the divorce document in regards to which parent is able to claim the child on their income tax is it possible for the noncustodial parent to claim the child without the written consent of the ex-spouse?

Depend on where you live, in some place both parent can split it on their income tax.

I read the IRS rule, that the child must live with you more than 50% of the time; absent an agreement. You shoudl check with your CPA or the IRS themselves. Do not go on the word of the tempoarary "trained" HR Blockhead types"; don't risk an audit. or your return being kicked out.
