Contested Divorce - Pre - Trial My husband and I are going thru a contested divorce . In November he decided he wanted a lawyer last minute , In december two days before court he got a criminal lawyer . His lawyer hasnt filed any motions nothing at all . MY lawyers have done all work , we go back to court on the 19th of this month my ? Can he reshedule the pre trial it's the 17th no paper work or nothing has been done on his behalf . I believe he Is playing games and Is gonna say he needs extra time for a new divorce lawyer . |

He could very well be playing that delay card. His attorney can file papers right up to the date of the hearing; causing it to be delayed, but it's unlikely. Judges frown on actions such as this. I don't understand why he would hire a litigation attorney unless he's planning on a real battle. Your attorney should already be prepared for this, if he's any good. Especially since you said it's a contested divorce matter. Contested divorces can last a long time, so be prepared. Now that you know what you're up against, get ready with anything you have that will help you win.
